Not A Good Ride :-(

Post by Rs Dude on Tue Sep 08, 2009 3:24 pm

Hi guys

I needed to get a few things from the supermarket that's a few miles away from me so I though , I know ill take the bike.

The first thing that happened was I tuned it on and the battery was flat (I haven't ridden it for ages), so I bump started it there and back.

Then on my home the engine started to cut out on me (when I say cut out , it felt more like it does when you pull away in to higher gear). So I quickly pulled in the clutch and managed to stabilize the revs and it seemed ok , then it did it again only this time it just bogged down until the engine cut out.

I pulled over to the side of the road and tried to bump start it but the bike wasn't having any of it (I tried bumping it for about a mile). then I reached a petrol station and though foock it ill try filling it back up with petrol and see it that works . just as I was pushing it into the petrol station the f*cking bike bump started. and run perfectly all the way home.

On my way home I noticed that my indicators are staying on and not flashing (not all the time but like they do when you remove one of the bulbs)

Could this all be down to some sort of electrical fault?

Yeah - sounds like you've got intermittent battery contact, possibly with the terminals.

Recheck the battery wires +/- are linking to the battery contact terminals and are secure, otherwise they must be losing contact intermittently and activating the indicators as if you'd just reinserted a new battery in.

Thanks for the reply Wink

The battery terminals are done up tight (I've taken the battery off to charge it).

Also the indicators aren't just coming on and off. its only when I turn them on , instead of flashing they just stay on (until I turn them off).

You got any other alarm circuit in between the battery and the starter?

How about swapping out the indicator fuses?

Try a new relay box for your indicators? they are only cheap and it could be that your current relay is on its way out
