oil light warning

Post by Lissee on Sat Nov 07, 2009 2:42 pm

Does the oil light switch on a two stroke indicate low on 2 stroke oil or transmission oil.(im just checking because I only had problems with the oil light staying on after i changed the transmission oil)i think its suppossed to be the 2 stoke oil reading

Also i drained my transmission oil and filled it up to with 700ml of oil (says in the manual it should hold 800ml) but its level is way above the sightglass , I know u need to read it with the bike up straight and preferable after its been used then cooled down a bit. I havnt turned it on yet, will the level come down a bit after its gone round the engine and settled. should i drain some out to the right level first b4 i start it. (why wud it be reading too high if i drained it out fully first and put in what it says to put in)

As for the transmission oil, how long is it since it been changed?

if its been a long time, I would say to drain it again then fill it, so in effect your changing it twice. If the manual says 800ml I would stick with what the manual says even if you can see that its full.

Yeah the reading will be lower after you have ridden it because the oil will be around the gearbox. After you have ridden it, fill it up again right up to the fill level.

as for transmission oil its like doing a oil change on acar when you drain it and refill you have to alow for things like the filter itslef refilling so you done right too go for a ride comeback and top it it !!!
