Sounds like jets to me?

at idle jets dont come into it, so i should start and tick over fine, do a plug chop test ...

maybe the choke is sticking on??

It's hard to tell from your description, maybe you're just stalling it?

Go into more detail about what is happening, what you see smell when it happens and i'll be able to help you better

Rite i start it starts fine but rev it at all in neutral sort of dies even when warmed. When i go to take off definitly not stalling it sort of looses power as if its stalling. I was thinking clutch but you can change gears alright on the spot so i would think it ainlt the clutch. Alot of smoke comes out when i try to take off.

Maby too much/not enough two stroke going through?
Or petrol?
Or air?

He told me that at the last service was told carb needed turned up.

I think you may be right about the jets or could the main jet be blocked?

sounds like it's running rich as a fucker.

Just because you can change gears dosn't mean the clutch is fine, you don't need a clutch to change gears.

It won't be the main jet, that controls the mixture from 3/4 throttle to full throttle.

Have you left it idling for a long time? if so then 2-stroke builds up in the cylinder, so when you go to rev it it cuts out. Fire the bike up and twist the throttle tiny bit at a time and let it rev a little.

Failing that clean the carb out.

How much smoke is coming out? loads and loads?
if so could be the crankseal on the clutch side has blown.

Yeah it feels like this 2-stroke builds up in the cylinder, so when you go to rev it it cuts out but does it again and again i thinkit is this because the smoke smells of twostroke

like i say then. Start it, and twist the throttle a tiny amount, you will hear the bike struggle to rev as it shoves all the un-burnt 2-stroke out of the cylinder and exhaust, it will clear itself up after a while.

Is it running pre-mix or on the oil pump?

Oil pump. Yeah ive done that but it just seems to clog up again when i give it revs to take off but it will idle fine but it does build up and eventually cut out.

SOi need to adjust the amount of twostroke going in then???

nooooo, don't touch the oil pump.

If you've tried what i said already then do what criag says, clean the carb out. Takes 10mins and rules it out.

Is it worth turning the petrol off, then running the bike.

Let it tick over, if its getting too much then surly as it starts to run out the bike will pick up and rev fine, then of course cut out?

I take the tank off my bike.

Seat off, undo the bolt bit there, then the one on top. Lift's off... easy!

The newshape RS's have a vaccum tap, not a gravity tap like the oldshapes.

A vaccum tap has a pipe going from the inlet manifold to the tap to push fuel into the carb. So if it's not running petrol won't be coming out of the tap, just pull the pipe off.

to be honest mate sounds like ur main jet blocked ? e.g. when u pull away just alot of oil is going into the engine ...

or it could be thta ur piston rings are going

heres a top put ur hand over the exaust when its running tell me what the smoke smells like then if its oily, 1 of ur jets is probably blocked

if u noticed when you were riding ur bike over a period of time and it was loosing power gradualy to wat it is now then ur rings gone mate

Right thought id try it again and it worked fine dont know how or why but whatever was happening has stopped and i love this fuking bike but ill get the rings and all checked soon as id say its in bad need of a rebuild 18000km even so its unbelievibly responsive through the throttle compared to the old model and feels and sounds better and of course looks better

You mean you need the bit that the gear lever connects to, the shaft that has splines on it?

You'll also need a new gear lever aswell. Sounds to me like the bolt clamping the lever to the shaft wasn't tight enough so it's just striped the teeth on the lever and shaft.

To replace the shaft you need to remove the end casing and clutch basket. You'll need a new end casing gasket.
