Craig! What is it with the forum software?

It seems to delete posts when you flick back a page on Firefox to see what the last comment on the previous page was....

Arrghhh...anyway....you guys all at least made it to college. I'm convinced my nephew just wants to sit glued to a PSP even when he's 45. He's bright, but prefers wasting time on Runescape and PSP stuff. Even crossing a road I think he's a hazard. Just doesn't look. A bit like those dipsticks in the Sony PSP tv ad!

Yeah he does.

It's just not funny though. I feel like cracking up when I see him do that. Just so oblivious to other road users. A bike could come and knock him down. Well that's how engrossed hew as with it. He mysteriously 'lost' his over summer, so he's not had it for 6 months and is now getting withdrawal cravings.

Not much longer to hold out now.....we all need to resist him like the Borg so that he knows no one is getting him a PSP before his exams Smile

I was joking, I wasn't actually serious but GOSH! It must be bad if hes using it while crossing the road! Especially down in London or the surrounding areas.

Hmm lost it eyy? You do know theres been a recent release of an updated model with a load of new features and a range of colours to choose from, maybe thats why he's 'lost' it.

Maybe you should make a deal with him, or well get his parents to make a deal with him that he can have a new PSP when he has completed his exams Smile

Will - serious question: what made you grow up and give up with Runescape then?

I'm wondering what will help my nephew...apart from me, writing to the CEO director of Runescape and asking him to kill off my nephew's character lol!

Dan - you wouldn't believe how secretly happy we were when we found out he had lost his PSP Very Happy It was hard keeping a serious face and trying to show some sympathy. He lost it during summer so his road safety skills are better now Smile

But! If he gets another one...dear help us all! He refuses to do anything - even fun things like squash, tennis, going out to the films on time - he always 'lags'. He won't think about others, and trails so that he's always the last one out. That's just plain disorganised eh? When I was his age, I was always the first one out Very Happy

"A deal is no deal: I want a PSP NOW!! NOW !!!! NOW!!! Why does no one understand me? You're all so meannnnnn!! I hate you all! No one will buy me a PSP! You don't understand how important it is - you're too old!" lol!

It's fun being an adult sometimes too Smile

Haha, I'm pretty sure its just a phase he's going through, but he's just going through it a little late. My Dad even made a comment at me the other day about how little I play my Xbox 360 now. Hmm he said hes going to get a telephone line put in my room so I can have Xbox Live, I bet he will regret it Smile

Does he have a console at home? Maybe it would be an idea to get him one, at least then he's limited to where he can play it Very Happy

Is he into football or rugby or martial arts or weights or anything?

Mehh, when I go to the films, I literally run to the door so no one is in my way Smile

Is that the line he used on the phone with you tonight? I bet it didn't half make you chuckle lol!

My nephew is into squash/tennis/cross-country. Pretty much like me when I was his age Smile

Lol. A colleague of mine plays Xbox 360 too. He's about 24. I was a bit shocked when he said he loved going home to play on the computer. Of course, I couldn't exactly tell him to get a life Very Happy

Said it before Dan....your dad is quite something! Lol. I keep forgetting - you are a single child lol!

My nephew has been banned from the computer, but unfortunately he is more intelligent than his parents when it comes to bypassing parental controls. I keep telling them to get an Apple Mac so that they can monitor and supervise him easier but oh no...they want Windoze and they don't know how to operate the controls even. He tends to sneak on the internet to play interactive games. Even doing homework, he pretends to study whilst playing. When he's caught out, he claims he was never playing. No admission of guilt...no responsibility. Like...grow up kid! lol!

Yeah - he uses that line on me very openly. When he was younger, he was really sweet - he would never ask for anything and I'd always offer. Maybe I screwed up and now he thinks I'm the rich uncle with 2 motorcycles who *should* be able to afford to buy him a PSP if he can buy petrol at today's prices Smile

Ahh, so his life consists of them sports and then the PSP, bit of a let down really Smile Laughing

Yeah, I have heard of quite a few blokes who enjoy the xbox, your colleague doesn't go as far as taking the day off to play a new game that has come out does he?

Yes, single child, its great Smile

Ohh, it sounds as though he manages to pull the wool over their eyes very easily, maybe you should take a ride around there and set up the parental controls so its much harder to bypass, either that or get one of them things that block things such as games and erm porn Smile

Ahh, I can guess he doesn't make you feel guilty though. Hmm rich uncle with 2 motorcycles. Maybe you should get yourself a rusty old CG125 to take the trip to their house so you can play the poor man Smile

Yep! I can see him being a waster if this continues! That's why I think we need to ride it out and conspire so that he can't have a PSP until he's 18 lol!

Haha....my colleague is a nice guy - very quiet, but plays football, and then dashes home to cook a pizza and play the x-box!!! I find that funny, but he thinks it's a 'normal' thing Very Happy

My nephew's parents don't take good advice - they stay with their Windoze so they never have a clue what they're doing. At least he's got a chance of growing up to be a computer hacker if nothing else works out!

Don't you miss not having brothers or sisters? Friends aren't quite the same...brothers and sisters kind of fall out and make up and learn that they can't get away with things! Argy-bargy and all that!

Haha.....now I wonder where I could get a rust old CG125cc bike, maybe an orange one hmm?! Very Happy

Wouldn't that be a great winter hack?! With stabilisers of coz Very Happy

Yeah, maybe he will. I've just been looking, you can get a good car cheaper than you can get a PSP now, Shame he's not 17.

Hmmm, football then pizza, I'm not sure that guy has his exercise / diet regime organised, maybe you should help him out.

We have the Windows, I'm pretty good at using it too, if I ever visit something I shouldn't then I know full well how to delete the history, not to mention my msn chat logs now that would be embarrassing if they read them Shocked

Don't you miss not having brothers or sisters

Laughing I've never had the experience therefore it makes no difference to me Smile

My cousins always argue. They are always calling one another 'You Fvkc*ng Bitch' in that high pitched squeal, I couldn't be doing with that. I quite enjoy being on my own, getting home to an empty house and generally just doing what ever I like.

Ahh I wonder too Smile Mine is the CBR125 and rust-free I hope, hmm must check that on the weekend.

It would be a decent winter hack, with erm, heated grips, bar muffs, loads of crash bungs, stabilisers, a heater..... actually its easier to buy a car. I found this picture of a bike yesterday with stabilisers, I can't seem to find it now.... not that you would want to see something monstrous like that anyway Laughing

Re: Music You Ride To?

I was stunned at the cost of the PSP in the shops! It's not like a cheap thing! I'd rather get myself a pair of new Michelin Pilots CT2s than get him a crappy plastic PSP lol. He just doesn't see it Smile

Don't you find a lot of people do that? They play sport during the week; then pig out on junk or drink to excess over weekends. Football is more of a social thing I guess. I don't like pizza much so I can't really understand pizza eaters. I guess they like cardboard with croutons.

Well can you imagine what having brothers and sisters are like?! On second thoughts, if they're like your cousins, I can see why. That would crack me up. Hmmm. Maybe it did when I was younger? Rolling Eyes

Okay - having brothers and sisters who you can get on with can be great. I like coming back to my own space too - empty apartment without any burglars in it Smile Freedom and independence are important - although it's great having the rest of the family to grow up with, if you get along with them. Will you be seeing your cousins over Christmas then? I'll spend most of mine holed up here! We don't plan to go out except if we run out of milk or food. Maybe we might try and get out to see the countryside too.

Yeah - I got a Honda Civic. Nice little car, does the job. Can't say I enjoy driving it, but it sure beats riding with the shopping strapped in the pillion seat......

Haha, they are dear, depends where you get them from, bargains can be found if you look, but then you have to trust the seller to start with. How much are PSP's now? When they first came out they were like £200 odd. The tyres would be a better thing in mine and your opinion, not so your nephews.

Yeah I see it all the time, a few lads at my school will go out in the and pump iron and eat well yet go out on a Friday and Saturday and get will drunk, eat kebabs and take drugs. I enjoy pizza now and again, I quite enjoy it, only a veg based one mind.

Hmm maybe your parents kept you inline and none if this arguing lark went on, how many brothers and sisters do you have?

My Mum gets on rally well with her brother, likewise I get on brilliant with him, hes a great guy Smile Haha, I'm sure a burglar less apartment is excelled by the fact it isn't on the ground floor. Mind you even if it wasn't the burglars would hear you arriving back 10 minutes before you eventually got there in the first place Laughing Seeing my cousins over Christmas? lol! thats something insane like asking me to give you my bike for nothing Laughing. I may seem them out on new years eve but I won't be going out of my way for them, well not on my Dads side anyway, except for a couple of them who I get on really well with.

Your gf is nothing like my Mum then, come the day after boxing day my Mum will be wanting to 'hit the sales' I don't mind as long as I don't get the brain freeze I had while out shopping last hear.

I like them Civic's, is it the newest shape one? With the cool dash board inside? Yeah it must be great not having to take a backpack everywhere with you to carry your milk only to find out its spilt by the time you get home, Haha.

Re: Music You Ride To?

How come this kid isn't finding Runescape boring then?!

I remember I got hooked on space invaders. But we didn't have our own consoles - we had to go to the arcade machine to play it. It was much more fun and low tech, because we'd play challenges and stuff after school on the shoot 'em ups Smile

I guess a PSP is around £250. I don't like electronic gadgets in generate - they always become obsolete real quick. Unlike a squash racquet or a bicycle.

My parents keep me in line?! Lol no. I did that. Well err...they always travelled and worked a lot so they never knew what I got up to. I used to be a bit of a hooligan (climb rooftops and throw coke bottles down to see how far they could land lol). Now, that kind of thing would get you an ASBO. Back then, we were just called kids. I've got a brother and a sister. They don't approve of my bike, though my brother doesn't need to. He flies planes. Big ones! We meet up when his flight paths cross mine (literally).

Ok ok - your cousins aren't in your good books! Mine are in Holland and Scotland - we just don't really know each other because of geography.

Yeah - I'd divorce my girlfriend even though we're not married if she just wanted to do the shopaholic thing. Thankfully, she's just like me; we're not into crowds and just like each other's company, rather than the company of strangers in a busy shopping precinct during Christmas sales lol. We'd rather escape to the empty seaside or countryside and enjoy the peace whilst there's no one else there. One year we hired a 4x4 and drove through floods to Cornwall. That was a good experience actually. Equally, we're both bookish and we'd be happy to stay at home, read and listen to music. I don't think she approves of me wasting time on a forum....so I better delete the cookies afterwards.....

Civic is 5 years old - not stunningly new or anything. I just wanted a practical small throwaround car. Carrying milk on the backk of a motorcycle is easy. ...carrying a French baguette isn't! Very Happy

Re: Music You Ride To?

The game I first remember getting hooked on was Grand Theft Auto. I used to enjoy that '18' rated game at about 10 years old Laughing It was one of the very first ones on the PSONE, I don't know if you have ever seen the gameplay of it from then and now, it used to be a birds eye view of the game now its changed so much, I often wonder how I didn't get bored playing it from the birds eye view.

You sound like my Dad, he used to play space invaders and then. You can get a game for the Xbox which has all the classical games on it, we got it, I really did enjoy it. There was a game I especially liked, Hmm I can't remember what it was called now.... it was a type pf driving games where you had to get away from the bad guys, and the longer you went through it you got like powers say oil slick and guns attached to your car so you could blow them to hell Smile Damn not knowing the name of that game now is really going to bug me. It will probably be one of them light bulb moments where I wake up in the middle of the night then remember the name lol!

That's the problem with electronics, theres always something new and updated coming out. Apple are the same with their iPods. After I got my one, they bought out a better and updated version even with an external speaker. A bit annoying but that's life.

I've just had a look on play.com, a PSP would set you back £140 for the standard one with a game. Or £200 if the PSP 'GO' it what you were after. But since he's not allowed one until July, I'm sure the prices will have fallen again Smile

Haha, that sounds like great fun, kind of having your own independence from a young age, I guess I got mine at 16. Lol I've never heard of that being done before, if we were to do that now then with the rising population we would more than likely hit someone on the head and kill them... but maybe you did that, is that why all them guys are still chilling out in your freezer lol!

Being a pilot, that would be a great job, not so sure I would like the responsibility of all of them lives though, but I guess its like driving a car, your still responsible for the lives of your passengers. I know my family don't approve of my bike very much at all, but I was told to do what makes me happy and that's what I'm doing Smile

Well they aren't necessarily in my bad books, its just seeing them day in and day out in school doesn't help either. Your quite a distance from your aren't you.

Its good shes not like that then Smile My Mum loves her shopping, my stepdad enjoys it for about an hour or thinks its great if I'm there because me and him just go our own ways. I was meant to be going Xmas shopping today with Matt, but the -2 temp here has made sure the bike is a 'no-go' thing today Sad

You enjoy coming to the countryside where its dead, and I would quite happily love to spend a day in London just wandering around for the experience lol. Were them flood the Boscastle floods?

Well its only a potter around car anyway, it doesn't have to be spectacularly good car, as long as it gets you from A - B and its warm Smile Hmm I can't actually think of a way to carry a French baguette, maybe break it up into small piece Laughing

Yup - it was on the news, about encouraging hoodies to become delinquents and encouraging youngsters to try it out in real life! Of course, the game owners said it was just a game, of course it doesn't encourage youngsters to try and do bad things...

I wasn't hugely into arcade games either. We used to live near the seaside and there was an arcade place there. It was so easy to gamble on the jackpot machine and win loads of 2p coins. Then we got banned from going, because it was supposed to encourage gambling lol. In 10 year olds.

Can't remember the name of that driving game. If it had motorcycles, then it would be interesting!

Wait.....that would be riding in the city. yeah.

That's the problem with electronics, theres always something new and updated coming out. Apple are the same with their iPods. After I got my one, they bought out a better and updated version even with an external speaker. A bit annoying but that's life.

It doesn't trouble me at all though; I like retro and vintage as much as I like modern and cool. My iPod is the first 80GB version. It does all I want, except play good quality music. My mini-disc is better for playback and a minidisc is not ultracool and known to everyone! Well I can't tell the difference between PSPs - I'm sure if I bought one, he'd tell me it was the wrong one, and I had to promptly go out and buy him another one! The right one!~

Yeah - kids are more aggressive these days i.e. can't control their emotions and tempers, and instead, are more likely to blow it and blow their own chances up. The government can't just continue locking everyone up, but it doesn't want to tackle deep rooted social problems, because it requires more moeny and less votes.

Being a pilot, that would be a great job, not so sure I would like the responsibility of all of them lives though, but I guess its like driving a car, your still responsible for the lives of your passengers.
