Bike being weird.

Post by MasterTenerife on Sun Dec 20, 2009 9:37 am

[COPY PASTE]

Eh yea gonna me this shrt and simple.
Basically recently my bike does not start well, it does start but the revs are so low if i touch the gas a little it just dies, after a couple of tries its fine.

Normally its hot and dry here in Tenerife, but it has some rainy days now and a little cold, so i don't know if this is just because the bike sits in the cold garage for 12+ hours.

Also today while riding in a light rain the bike had a little bit more difficulty climbing up the revs, basically 1st gear felt like second.

I personally think its worn rings or something but what do you guys think?

Oh and its an Rs50 and been filled up with fuel yesterday.

Have you tested compression?

And it could be water getting in the airbox, you got the snorkels on?

You don't have an airbox?

Do you just have a cone filter?

If so, that's your problem Smile lol

lol yeah, mine was "fine" with a k and n filter, but it was never consistant, i was always fidaling with it to keep it runnign right, it quite oftern went to shit everytime we got a little colder or warmer.

As you know will i was trying to get hold of a standard air filter for a while, never did get one though lol.

anouther point, you said its been raining?

Did you ride it in the rain, or wet roads?

If so, take off the air filter, and trow it on the radiator or somthing and dry it out....

Mine did it once, the back wheel must of been trowing all the water up into it, you carnt really tell it was wet, but as soon as i dried it the thing ran about 100x's better. Was a simular thing to what your saying, the revs droped and it ran really sluggish.

Yeah them K&N's on the RS are shit, they are a right pain in the arse. Take it off and let it dry out like Craig said, its only been doing it since its wet so I be thats your problem.

I was on about him saying it's been raining, and if it had a cone filter then it's probably got water in the carb :/

today i went to school and the bike sat 6 hours in the rain, started up ok lol but then didnt go above 6k revs, smokey as hell...then i just tried to warm it up most i could and just changed to second gear...third etc.

Was slow as fuck but after a minute or two went all good. The carb must ave been flooded with some water but its ok now.

so yeah, cant be arsed taking it apart since its ok again.
