Allen key force multiplier?

Post by Bluecollarlove on Mon Mar 01, 2010 2:14 pm

Is there such a thing?

I have to dismantle my bicycle which i want to bring over to Yurop in time for the Tour de France Very Happy

Rules are the pedals have to come off.

With a 6cm allen key, I can't generate enough torque in the palm of my hand to yank it off!! It bl**dy hurts!!!

What do you use? Is there a handle extension crowbar thing or something to generate enough leverage to undo the Shimano pedals?

Sure they arn't left hand thread?

Could just twat the allen key with a hammer! lol.

I presume you're using those shitty L-shaped allen keys, right? Seriously they're crap, if they don't round the bolt off they'll cut into your hands! lol.

Could get a set of allen key to fit in a 10mm socket. That way you can get serious leverage!
allen key to fit in 10mm socket+10mm socket+Fucking big breaker bar = shit comes un-done!! lol

Go to the gym, man up and he hench like me, i could undo that by resting my dick on it

If all else fails get some leverage on it, bit of tubing on the end to make the handle longer to put more pressure on it Razz

Well that sentence basically sums up what I achieved!! Double whammy!

Benney - I just couldn't get the leverage in the angle to work a hammer.

Will - only you and your amazing willie could achieve what no man could not screw Very Happy

In this case, unscrew!

well to cut the big hassle short, I yanked off one handlebar and stuffed some cardboard against the pedals and got it in the bicycle carrier. It jagged into my leg all the way when carrying it. I walked about 1 mile in total just between trains/buses/planes Sad

It's okay. I got it back together again.

Worked ... like piss. I was practically handstanding the bike getting the pedals to work against the brakes which jammed.

I managed about 1 mile of hard labour and got her into town and brought her into a bicycle hire shop and asked if they could fix my brake tension for me Very Happy

The people are so nice here, they did and all - free of charge Very Happy

Haha....London - I would've been shoved off my bike and floored by a gang of hard 8 year olds who would threaten to karate chop me with their little poker arms and the really really hard man of them all - the 9 year old - having a knife by my throat!

Back on the topic of wheels....here's the oil I discovered on my rear motorcycle tyre when my engine oil line mysteriously wafted off its clip after service:

[img][url=https://servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=10&u=14229292]

That 'shiny' glinting stuff is thick treacle engine oil - all of it. It was slippery as hell! I couldn't even get a foot down without skating all over the place just to come to a halt! Even when I finally slowed to a perfect ice skater's balanced stop and got off, I was skating crazy on the spot as the rest of the oil formed a huge puddle. Couldn't even shift the bike out of the puddle of oil for ages! Sad

Got it all over the undercarriage of the bike when the line blew the whole engine oil contents backwards making me breakdance like I've never done on a motorcycle before!~ bounce

Arrrrgh!

How is it, that even something slimy and wet on my tyre gets turned into teenage innuendo?!! lol!

Well - the tyre is perfectly fine - as is my bike - the oil cleaned up with several huge wipes with a cloth (goodbye cloth) and the garage sorted out the rest using an oil dispersing agent.

When an engine oil line leaks and blows oil everywhere, the engine failure sensors come on quick - just as well. I shut down the engine as soon as I saw it. As for the oil - well the cars behind me seemed oblivious to why they were sliding around....

You should have stung them for a new tyre Smile

As for the sticky stuff, you know what Will is like, hes new to all this so its a big thing to him lol!

As for the cars behind you, did they eventually realise what was going on or come careering behind you sideways?

Re: Allen key force multiplier?

I don't think a lot of the cagers realised - they just blasted past and caroomed out of control - panicked - grabbed the wheel and braked, after clearing the oil spill - not before. Police wouldn't come out - didn't think it was severe enough since there was no 'accident'.

Good thing motorcycles leave oil streaks rather than puddles which coalesce like ponds, otherwise they would've had completely no traction on either wheel.

Engine oil is slippy - more slippy than ice! I almost floored myself trying to walk around my bike to check her out!

Bet that was funny, like your own pay back of how many of them have cut you up etc Laughing

How much oil did it spew all over the road? That could of been much worse and damaged your engine Shocked

Ice is bad enough to walk on, bet it was just like the winter again.
