mine does this, I had the carb cleaned and it still does it, in the garage there was even an RS125 doing it, mines is worse until its warmed up then it goes, mine never does it when its warm, its a common problem mate

you could if you wanted to, ohh if its doing it when warm then im not to sure,
mine does it like it will climb to say 7,000 then just splutter and jerk, but soon as you change up to say 3rd its fine, and after its warm there no problems

I had mine cleaned and that and still done it, the guy at the garage reckons that its the warmer weather, because it only started doing it when it got warmer with me

Hmmm, tryed a new spark plug?

I had somthing simular happen once, the bike wouldnt rev past 6k and would get about 10mph's top.

I basicaly cleaned out the lot, cleaned the carb and everything. In the end i changed the spark plug (whivch was only a week old anyway) and it ran fine again.

If your spark plug keeps fouling, then its your jetting that needs attention.. a plug should last 10,000miles+

yeah changed my plug and cleaned my carb but stil not luck, had the cylinder off and the piston is black on the top and dark brown past the 1st and 2nd ring, is this knackered? and when i removed the cylinder there was water or some liquid on the piston and down the barrel which obviously isnt normal any ideas?

Sounds like your water jacket is leaking coolant into the cylinder.
Is there loads of white smoke coming out the exhaust when running it?

And that could be why its spluttering, its struggling to ignite the fuel/ air mix becuase there is water in there.
And when it gets hotter, it burns it off.

Think theyre £15 iirc on ebay.
And the brown shouldnt go past the rings.. get some new rings on there, poss over sized piston.

Re: RS50 Spluttering problem

1. Crank Case gasket was not fitted right and it is leaking from the water pump into the crank case.

2. Cylinder base gasket not fitted or ripped when you installed it

Theyre the only things that it could be, but it IS leaking if there is tons of white smoke. Stop riding now. lol

Also check your spark plug is on tight. (prob not this)

New top end kit for an RS125 is jus tover £50. lol
Think you got riped off, unless you got a barell with it?

If so, then one for the 125 is about £200 Neutral
